The late Debi Chai<\/h4>\n

\nThe third head of the council of Beer Ya’akov,<\/p>\n

Debi Chai, born in Iraq, and already at the age of 17 published a teaching book that was approved for study by the educational institutions in Iraq. After that, study economics and law.
\nIn March 1951, he immigrated to Israel with his family straight to the “Hoter” crossing in Beer Ya’akov.<\/p>\n

Upon immigrating to Israel, he was accepted to work at a hospital for the mentally ill in Be’er Ya’akov in a junior position, when the director of the hospital found out about his academic degrees, he advanced in his position and was appointed to the position of administrative director of the hospital.<\/p>\n

In these years, he began his public activity and was elected to serve as the first committee chairman of the “Hotar” neighborhood.<\/p>\n

In 1952, when the first barracks were built in Bar Ya’akov itself, intended for evacuees from the “Hotar” crossing, Debi Chai was among the first to purchase barracks in the Herzl neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Debi Hai served as head of the local council in Be’er Ya’akov between the years 1965-1967.
\nDuring his term of office, Debi Hai managed to carry out important projects such as connecting the settlement to the electrical infrastructure of an electricity company, establishing a local police station, paving a new road that connected to Ramla and establishing another neighborhood.
\nIn 1967 Debi Hai returned to work in the public service
\nServed as director of the Ministry of Health in Ramla
\nUntil his death, he served as Chancellor of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu-Kabir.<\/p>\n
